Ultimate Day Step 1: Set Your Vision

Crafting your ultimate day begins with drawing a target so you know where to shoot your arrows. Those arrows are your time, your energy, your focus, maybe even your finances. Are they targeted? Do they have purpose? Do they bring you closer to your vision and mission?

The first step is setting a vision, and that begins with reflection.

What do you want your life to look like? What do you want? Is it being a great parent? Super successful financially? Getting your food and fitness on a new track? Changing the way you use downtime and vacations? Turning your hobby into a side hustle? Being a better partner to your spouse? Mastering a passion you’ve never had enough time for?

There’s a lot to think about. As you consider and reflect and dream, I suggest choosing three areas to focus on. Once there, your vision will become clear. You will know your purpose and your mission. And then you can navigate forward, beginning with designing your ultimate day.

In my case, I like to train, run, bike, swim, lift, and do yoga. I enjoy those activities. You may not. But they are part of my ultimate day. So is public speaking and sharing ideas. So is ensuring I can have exceptional family time and particular kinds of holidays. Your ultimate day will be yours. Maybe you want to walk more, learn how to cook, become more focused and productive at work, try meditation, shift careers. This is you thinking about you.

Start by making a list of three to five goals or dreams – with three, in my opinion, being optimal. This is a time to break things down, sort and assess, and then rebuild.

This is like drawing a target so you know where to shoot your arrows. Those arrows are your time, your energy, your focus, maybe even your finances. Those arrows are going to fly anyway. Are they targeted? Do they have purpose? Do they bring you closer to your vision and mission?

Once there, your vision will become clear. You will know your purpose and your mission. And then you can navigate forward, beginning with designing your ultimate day.
