Welcome to the STEM Program!

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Program. We are so excited to be working with you!

The STEM 1.0 Program is designed to help you craft positive habits, routines and rituals related to sleeping, thinking, eating and moving better. Hopefully all these pillars are of interest to you, but you can also choose your own journey and sample from the areas that are exciting and helpful for you.

Ultimately my goal is to help make the world a better place for our children. Our world is facing four interrelated grand epidemics— sleeplessness, obesity, inactivity, and mental illness—that are causing people to struggle on a daily basis. Consider this:

We are in a global “sleeplessness epidemic” that affects close to 20% of the population.

Non-communicable diseases that can be caused by poor nutrition and physical inactivity such as cancer, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease are now the leading cause of death in all parts of the world except Africa.

Almost 60% of Canadians and 70% of Americans are struggling with healthy nutrition.

The World Health Organization has identified physical inactivity as one of the greatest threats to human health.

One in five people will suffer from a mental illness challenge in their lifetime.

What does this mean? That we are missing out on creativity, problem solving, ingenuity, inventiveness, and, ultimately, happiness.

But I am hope-filled. I believe that sleeping soundly, eating smarter, moving more, and thinking clearly are all interconnected - when we sleep better we can exercise more easily - when we get some activity into our day our mental health improves - etc. These four factors are amplifiers for each other. When you put them together, you end up with much more than the sum of the individual parts. It’s when we combine sleeping, eating, moving, and thinking better that we can make powerful gains in our health and in our lives.

I call this the ripple effect. That is what we will seek to create with the STEM 1.0 Program.

Over the course of the program, we will explore how you can:

Sleep Soundly

Move More

Eat Smarter

Think Clearly

There will be a module for each of these core concepts, with lessons in each module. Before diving into the Sleep Soundly module, the first week will focus on how to set dreams, build great habits, and to create an environment for success. During the final week, we'll bring all the concepts together to help you make this the best year of your life. Once you have completed a lesson, you can mark it as complete and move on to the next lesson. You will be notified when the next module is available.

In each lesson, I'll present you with information that will introduce core concepts and also zoom in on specific skills and techniques that you can work on. You will receive articles, podcasts, and videos to help you build the habits and skills you need to reach your potential.

The first step is to download The Ripple Effect Workbook. We encourage you to save it to your computer as a pdf or print it out. You will occasionally be prompted to complete exercises that will help guide you throughout this course. The workbook also contains space for you to write your own notes, comments, and reminders. The more you engage with the content, the more you'll get out of the Program.

You can send me your questions any time at greg@wellsperformance.com. All communication between us are confidential and are only shared with my internal team.

Thank you all for being a part of the program!

As a little welcome bonus I wanted to share this 20 minute keynote I gave a few years ago about The Ripple Effect that will give you a preview about what is coming up later in the course!

Thanks again!
